Old U.S. Wartime Motorcycle Photos

I saw these original 1930's / 1940's photos up on Ebay and thought they were great!

Steve McQueen's Triumph Desert Race Bike

Here's a cool little article about one of Steve Mcqueen's desert racing Triumphs from a June 1964 Cycle World Magazine. Check out that accessory skid plate as Paul of Show & Go has posted old original ads for those!

1960's Craziness!

Here are some great shots originally posted on the Selvedge Yard blog, http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com, and in Duke University's photo archive: http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/search/results?t=motorcycle&rows=16. I posted a couple of pictures relating to the ripple piped bike under a post called "Ripple Pipe in 1969" and the dragon-looking bike in the third shot is Mel's Monster and I have a few shots of the whole bike in a posted by that same name! Thanks Mark Anthony for the Selvedge Yard link!

Desert Racing with a Sidecar!

This old panhead with sidecar desert race job is pretty keen!

When You Can't Decide - Three Motors in One!

This bike is by no mean the best looking Harley custom out there but give the article a read as its interesting how a pan, knuck, and shovel all came together to create something very unique.

A. Unchained Lobby Card

From the looks of it there's a decent custom panhead at left with molded peanut tank!

Classic 1960's Speedway!

Here are some nice vintage 60's Speedway shots from a Hot Rod Magazine of similar era!

Batgirl's Custom YDS-3 "Catalina" Circa 1967

Yvonne Craig as Batgirl aboard her nicely molded Yamaha from Season Three of the 1960's Batman TV Series! That Rothesque bubble windshield is pretty wild!

An old cartoon Batgirl who appears to be posed to ride cycles.

Pre-unit vs. Pre-unit

Here's a cool picture from 1965 and the caption reads: "David and Goliath all over again - Bob Loux, near side, later pitted his fuel Triumph 40-incher against 80-dual engine Triumph of Dick Rios at AHRA Championships, won wth 144.25, 10.73." The fool took the twin engine contender, nice!

The Bad Banana

Thanks to Vilmino of http://loserrules.blogspot.com/ for sending over this awesome knucklehead photo. I believe this is an East Bay Dragon's machine but please correct me if I'm wrong!
